I have the sneaking suspicion that the summer is almost over and it is nearing the time to return to work. The first week back is usually filled with excitement and exuberance, until most teachers have the realization that 'oh yeah…I'm back to work.' With some positive things brewing this fall, I'm hoping to avoid that mentality and try to keep the vibe strong this year.

The first week of school, I'm planning to do a major food drive for the food banks. I'm hoping to raise over 1,000 pounds of food, but that may not be a high enough goal to reach for. In any event, I'm planning on doing something positive with the student body population right off the bat.

I've been waiting for my certification to become an AP and I think all of my paperwork is finally in order. The state, for having such a major teacher shortage, sure takes their sweet-ass time reviewing all of the files. A simple call to check on the status of your application usually takes about 30 minutes, and when I checked last week, they told me they were reviewing files from March. From fucking March! Jesus! So, I'm guessing around November I'll probably hear from them and be ready to look for work as an AP.

I know I said this last year, but this is probably going to be my last year of teaching.
